About the Class

This 10-week evening art course offers a welcoming space for adults to explore creativity and build confidence in drawing and painting.

Through guided exercises, demonstrations, and creative exploration, students will learn fundamental skills such as observation, composition, colour mixing and painting techniques, while gradually working towards creating their own artwork on canvas.

Classes are relaxed, supportive and process-focused, encouraging experimentation rather than perfection. Along the way, you’ll be invited to explore the theme “Places That Stay With Us” — reflecting on landscapes, memories, or environments that hold meaning for you.

This course is ideal for beginners, those returning to art after many years, or anyone curious about exploring their creative side in a calm and inspiring studio environment.

What You’ll Learn

Throughout the course students will:

• Develop basic drawing skills and learn how to observe shapes and forms
• Explore simple composition techniques to structure an artwork
• Experiment with and combine different art materials and mediums
• Learn painting techniques and brushwork for building work on canvas
• Use collage and juxtaposition to explore visual ideas
• Develop concepts and inspiration into a finished artwork
• Build confidence to experiment and explore creatively
• Reflect on how imagery and creative choices can express personal stories and experiences

Materials to Bring

Drawing:
• A3 sketchbook/Multi Media pad
• Graphite pencils (HB, 2B, 6B)
• Charcoal sticks
• Eraser
Painting:
Acrylic paints:
• Titanium white
• Ultramarine blue
• Cadmium red
• Cadmium yellow
• Black
+any other colours that they would like, I will have some to add too.

Tools:
• 3–5 acrylic brushes (from small to large)

Surfaces:
• A3 Multi Media paper
• One medium canvas for final painting, which ever shape.

Class Fees

Our classes run in 10-week terms, giving students time to properly explore techniques, experience growth and complete meaningful work.

R4 500 per term

Payment options

• R1 500 per month (3 monthly instalments)
Pay the first instalment online to secure your spot. The studio will invoice the remaining two instalments and send friendly reminders when they’re due.

Your booking reserves your place for the full 10-week term.

Missed Classes

We totally get that life gets in the way sometimes, and while we would love to run make up classes for each class, it’s really hard to find gaps in the timetable to do that so we have come up with a plan!

Each member will get 2 free tokens to use during the time for any other (suitable) class to use if they have missed a class. This a great way to explore other mediums too! We just ask that if you have missed a class to make use of one by mid term and one in the 2nd half of the term so we can ensure you get your class of choice and space out class numbers (keeping to max 12 per class). Please reach out to Georgina to arrange and make sure the class you want to do is suitable for your skill level and that there is space in that class. We will remind everyone on our class groups when term starts. Happy Painting!
